债券 Information

债券 Information

债券, designed to assure an individual’s appearance in court, is set according to a court-approved schedule. Payment of the full bond amount is required to release an inmate from jail. To determine an inmate’s bond type and amount, please call the automated Information System at 720-874-3500 or visit the Inmate Charges and 债券s page. 债券 types are as follows:

  • Cash 债券: This bond type requires the full amount of bond in cash, which the court may return once court appearances are completed. Persons requesting surety status on the cash bond must provide a valid driver’s license or I.D. card prior to signing the bond.
  • Property 债券: The equity in real property may be used to post a property bond. Property bonds must be posted at the Arapahoe County Combined Court 职员’s Office during regular business hours. The Detention Facility does not handle real property bonds.
  • Surety 债券: A surety bond may be posted through the service of any state-licensed bond agent, who may require a co-signer and/or collateral to secure the bond and typically charge 10 to 15-percent of the total bond amount.
  • Personal Recognizance 债券: The judge may grant a personal recognizance (PR) bond. This is a signature bond involving no money or property as long as the individual appears at all future court dates.
  • PR 债券 with Co-signer: The judge may also grant a PR bond with a co-signer. The individual must find someone who meets the co-signer requirements and who is willing to sign the bond. The individual and the co-signer are responsible for the bond amount should the individual not return to court.

The Arapahoe County Detention Facility charges a $10 non-refundable bond fee, payable in cash only, for each bond. Additional municipal and county bond fees may also apply. There is a $30 booking fee charged each time an individual goes to jail. Typically, this fee is also paid at the time of bonding.

债券s can be posted at the Arapahoe County Detention Facility 24 hours a day. The Facility will accept certified bank checks or money orders for bond payments.

For each of the following options you should be prepared with the inmate’s jail identification number or full name and date of birth, and for an automated phone deposit, you will need the Arapahoe County Detention Facility’s TouchPay Site ID # 280112.

Cash 债券

This bond type requires the full amount of bond in cash, which the court may return once court appearances are completed. Individuals may elect to transfer the full bond amount to the inmate's account, and the inmate can use the funds to pay one or many bonds.

Civilian Surety 债券

  • A surety is a person or party who takes responsibility for the debt, default or other financial responsibilities of another party.
  • A surety is often used in contracts where one party's financial holdings or well-being are in question and the other party wants a guarantor.
  • Surety bonds are financial instruments that tie the principal, the obligee, often a government entity, and the surety.
  • In the case of surety bonds, the surety is providing a line of credit to the principal so as to reassure the obligee that the principal will fulfill their side of the agreement.

Differences between cash bonds and civilian surety bonds for civilian payers:

1. Cash bonds deposited in an inmate's account.

  • Funds deposited into the inmate's account become the property of the inmate.
  • All arrangements for repayment to the payer are between the inmate and the payer. The court may return the bond payment to the inmate if all conditions are met and court appearances are completed.
  • Neither the court nor the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office are responsible for returning any allowable funds to the payer.
  • The payer releases the court and the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office from any responsibility.

2. Surety bonds are cash bonds paid in full, but are not deposited in the inmates account.

  • Persons requesting surety status on the cash bond must provide a valid driver’s license or I.D. card prior to signing the bond.
  • Surety payers are responsible for the terms of the bond.
  • The court may return the bond payment to the payer if all conditions are met and court appearances are completed.

债券 Agent Surety 债券

A surety bond may be posted through the service of any state-licensed bond agent, who may require a co-signer and/or collateral to secure the bond and typically charge a percentage of the total bond amount.

Property 债券

The equity in real property may be used to post a property bond. Property bonds must be posted at the Arapahoe County Combined Court 职员’s Office during regular business hours. The Detention Facility does not handle real property bonds.

Personal Recognizance 债券

The judge may grant a personal recognizance (PR) bond. This is a signature bond involving no money or property as long as the individual appears at all future court dates.

PR 债券 with Co-signer

The judge may also grant a PR bond with a co-signer. The individual must find someone who meets the co-signer requirements and who is willing to sign the bond. The individual and the co-signer are responsible for the bond amount should the individual not return to court.
